Real Player 10: Audio but No Video

I am using Freespire. Usually the Freespire forums are very helpful but I seem to have developed a problem that has the posters stumped. Hopefully someone here can help.

RealPlayer was working fine then one day I lost video. Where the video should appear instead I get a second instance of Realplayer with a black screen. Hard to describe so here is a screen shot: http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/22/rpdoublenb1.jpg

I did try reinstalling but no luck. Thanks in advance for any help.

I just noticed that I have this problem as well. Ironically .rm files still play fine with mplayer. Unfortunately, even if you run RealPlayer from the command line you don't get any diagnostic error messages.

Ray2047,

Not sure if you ever solved this one, but I got my video back by going to the Hardware tab in Preferences and unchecking "use xvideo".

I once had the video dissappear from realplayer and it was also to do with the xvideo driver. I don't remember which way round it was... either it was that I was using xvideo and then I installed the nvidia binary drivers and had to turn xvideo off or turn it on or something.

In any case, goto the tools menu -> preferences -> hardware tab, and toggle the value of the "Use XVideo" checkbox.
