Reading E-books with Acroread

I have recently purchased an e-book from amazon. C___The_Complete_Reference.PDF, and could not download it in liniux (I am currently using FC4 but had the same problem with FC3) so I downloaded it in windows and was able to read the book fine. But when I transfer the book to my Fedora partition I coudn't open it with acroread I get the following error message "The current file cannot be viewed b ecause a plug-in is not available in the current configuration.". I have tried activating it but the acroread I have (7.001?) does not seem to have that option. How do I read my book. I have been playing around with it for about a month but have been unable to read it.

Welcome to LQ I would guess that this book has some type of electronic handshake in it that is only supported by the Windows version of Acrobat. I'd guess that it's to stop you sharing it with your friends.

I suspected as much myself. Unfortuantly it's actualy on the same computer. Just different partitions. So I can't even have another computer read it at the same time.

Adobe Reader eBooks can be viewed with Windows PCs, Macintosh computers, and Palm OS devices. Page navigation, multiple viewing options, bookmarks, and search features are included.

Transfer eBooks:
These eBooks are also transferable to Palm PDAs or additional computers by Activating the computer or device.
