I currently have Windows XP on an 80Gb hardisk. There is 30Gb free space. I am trying to use QtParted on a Knoppix 4.** live CD to make a new 15GB partition out of the free space. QtParted says the the hda2 (the partition with XP) is in use. How else am I supposed to partition the hard disk?
Don't use qtParted? Just straight use fdisk, it's just as easy, if not easier.
fdisk /dev/hda
The just create (n), choose partition number, set size, etc. When it's done, hit w to write the partition table, then format it with your favoured File System (give ReiserFS a try, one of the better ones!).
QtParted says the the hda2 (the partition with XP) is in use.
That likely means the partition is mounted as knoppix mounts everything it finds. You need to un-mount the partition before using qtparted or fdisk on it.
Easiest way is to run the command: umount -a
OK, I have gotten past making a new partition. Now when I run the Knx2Hd command, and configure the setup, I can't seem to choose anything but reiserFS. Ext2 and something else are given as choices, I can use the arrow keys to highlight them but can't select them...
When I run the installation with reiserFS chosen, it gives me an error about "some messages frome makereiserFS.blahblah blah do not recieve confirmation".
So, why am I getting this error/how is it fixed, or how do I choose the ext2 option?
