Python & ncurses in Fedora 7

I found out that the Python 2.5 included in Fedora 7 is linked with ncurses library instead of ncursesw one, and therefore it cannot print out UTF-8 encoded text correctly using curses functions. Anyone knows how to tell Python to use ncursesw library? Both library files are included in ncurses RPM package in Fedora 7. Thanks a lot!
