python and apache2

I am running apache2 on a linux box and I am trying to get python psp pages working. In the python.conf file I have the following
Code:
LoadModule python_module modules/mod_python.so

<Directory "/var/www/html">
  AddHandler mod_python .psp
  PythonHandler mod_python.psp
</Directory>
When I try to use a test page it displays text, which means to me apache doesn't know what to do with it so it spits it out as text. I seem to be missing something but I am not exactly sure what. Any help would be great.
