Program to check if website is working

I have few websites that I was to regularly check if they are working properly.

The way they work is, first you will see a page with a place for username/password. Once you entered in the proper username/password 3 things can happen

1. password not accepted. (Maybe DB error, or permission error)
2. Login fine, but you may get to the next page and it will display an error message. (Communication to file server problems)
3. Everthing does fine.

Basically I want to be able to script this so that I will give the program my username/password, and then login, and it will look at the page that comes up and look for error messages if they exists.

Is there a program what I can use that will allow me to do this?
