Problems with RedHat 9 LILO.conf

I've wanted to run DOS as the default operating system so I've altered LILO.conf and ran /sBin/lilo -v after altering it.

surprisingly -for me since I'm a newbie- it worked like a charm

The problem is the G.U.I in the selection screen also changed into something that looks like it was taken from the CGA days with a very very poor resolution.

How can I change it back to the smooth selection screen it was before I ran LILO -v ?

thanks for the help.
