Problems with KDE after setting hostname.

I had KDE working. That was until I typed the following command in Debian:

hostname joshua

Now I get the following error message :

Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server. ":0.0" after 0 requests with o events remaining.

xauth: (argv) :1: bad display name " none:0" in remove command.

Thanks for the replies.

Have you tried creating a hostname file or running the command hostname to make one, etc?

Is this along the same issues and question you asked here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=147218

If so lets keep the discussion all in one thread please and we'll merge these two threads together.

Regards.

I have now managed to get to the login screen in X windows. However, when I log in as root, it brings up a terminal windows. That's it, it won't start KDE
