I was trying to install "geonkick", which has to be built from source:
https://github.com/free-sm/geonkick
In order to do that, a few development packages have to be installed:
Quote:
On Debian, Ubuntu, Ubuntu Studio install:
Code:
apt-get install build-essential
apt-get install cmake
apt-get install qjackctl libjack-dev libsndfile-dev
apt-get install rapidjson-dev
apt-get install lv2-dev
apt-get install libcairo2-dev
|
When trying to install the last one, I got
Code:
$ sudo apt-get install libcairo2-dev

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libcairo2-dev : Depends: libglib2.0-dev but it is not installable
libx11-dev : Depends: libx11-6 (= 2:1.7.2-1) but 2:1.8.3-3 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
The reason for "libglib2.0-dev" not being installable:
Code:
libc6-dev : Breaks: libglib2.0-dev (<= 2.72.3-1) but 2.66.8-1 is to be installed
Now I have heard before, that dealing with dependencies can be a bit of a hassle, but how would one approach to solve such issues?
Is there something similar to virtual environments in python for example? Maybe just for temporarily setting up a working development environment for building?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks!
