problems with lib dependencies


Hello...

I have some problems installing MySQL-shared-4.0.18-0.i386.rpm... when I try to run rpm - i... i get

Code:

I've checked for these files and I have them all..it just seams this rpm thingy can't locate them...i also checked ld.so.conf and run ldconfig...with no luck..anyone have any ideas??

GIve up with RPMs, they're crap. Compile it from source, you'll find it's much easier.

RPM's are the bane of newbies...it makes everything harder than it needs to be and puts people off because of all the unsatisfied deps.

you could also try:

Code:
 rpm -i  --force --nodeps MySQL-shared-4.0.18-0.i386.rpm
or:
Code:
 rpm2tgz MySQL-shared-4.0.18-0.i386.rpm
and then unpack it and install it

I'll try compiling it from source....but first I'll try the other thing..just for the heck of it..

damn...that rpm2tgz thingy worker..just extracted the libs..moved them to /usr/lib..ran ldconfig....restarted apache...and now it shows mysql spport...
