Problems trying to change X Window Resolution

Im having trouble changing the resolution in Slackware 10.0. I am using dropline gnome. I've added the resolution that i want to my xorg.conf file, but the resolution fails to change from 1024x768. I am trying to get the resolution to 1280x1040. Also, when selecting the change screen resolution from the system tools menu in dropline gnome, the highest available resolution is 1024x768. I have also tried Ctrl+Alt+"+" or "-" but this throws everything out of whack. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Heres the relevant section of my xorg.conf file.

Graphics Device section:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Nvidia"
Driver "nvidia"
VideoRam 131072
EndSection

Screen Sections
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen 1"
Device "nvidia"
Monitor "My Monitor"

DefaultDepth 24
Subsection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1280x1024/65Hz" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubsection
