Problems installing/running software
Hi everyone,
Firstly let me apologise as this is probably a very stupid question but I'm a complete techo-phobe and am very new to linux.
I've recently downloaded a program (PyPedal) and have successfully extracted it into a folder in my home directory. Within the folder there are a number of .py files .txt. There are three called setup.py, ez_setup.py and setup.cfg.
Now, I've tried following the steps from your 'Useful thread and information about installing programs- How to install from source' and am told 'No such file' when I try to configure it (I'm pretty sure I am looking in the correct directory). I've tried pasting the various codes from the text documents into my terminal window and get a series of error messages. The read me document that comes with the software simply says 'In most cases you can just place the PyPedal pyp_*.py files in your PYTHONPATH'. Trouble is, I don't know what my PYTHONPATH is!
Once again, sorry if I am being very dim. All advice and suggestions gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Claire
