Problem with vsftpd

My vsftpd was working the way i wanted it to just the other day, then my box rebooted and it now says

530 This FTP server is anonymous only.

but i have it disabled, and when i try to restart vsftpd it fails on shutdown but starts ok, I also get

[1] Exit 1 /etc/rc.d/init.d/vsftpd
500 OOPS: vsftpd: does not run standalone, must be started from inetd

and I have listen=NO in my vsftpd.conf ..any ideas? I'd appreciate help cause ive been trying to figure it out for hours now

Sometimes it says start OK but it really doesn't start and the fact that when you try and restart vsftpd and get a shutdown FAILED is a dead give away. There is something wrong with your conf file. What it is I'm not sure.

My config file hasnt changed since it worked before, everything is the same
