Problem with process running on remote server accepting multi-byte string.

Hello All,

I am running one process which successfully displays some Japanese(multi-byte) output on terminal and also waiting for input from user but when i copy a Japanese(multi-byte) string lets say 一つ and pasted it on remote server's terminal it looks like this d8^@c^A$. When i run same process on my local machine it works fine means successfully accepts Japanese string, then what could be the problem? One more thing i wan to tell, if I copy string (一つ) and pasted on remote server's terminal without running any process it looks as it is no problem occurs.

Please note that i am trying this on Fedora 13 and using c programming language.

If I can be blunt .. stop using old releases - Fedora is up to release 20.

On with your problem .. have you configured the Japanese locale on both the local and remote hosts?

Yes I have configured Japanese locale on both machines and if I run any command on remote server it works fine, displays output in Japanese. But when I run a process then only this problem occurs.

Are you using the openssh client to connect to the remote server?

Yes and version is OpenSSH_5.4p1, OpenSSL 1.0.0-fips.
I changed layout of keyboard to support japanese characters, in this case i did not copy-pasted string but typed japanese characters but still problem exists.

Could you please confirm what LANG is set to on both sides?

Code:
locale
or
Code:
echo $LANG

So the process running on the remote machine is a program that you have created?

Ok, so this seems to be more of a coding issue then, you may get more exposure by moving this to the Linux - Software forum
