Curses + UTF-8 Multi-Byte - Anything new in RHEL-4?

Hi Linux Experts,

When one of the curses application that supports UTF-8 multi-bytes characters on RHEL-3 displays okay using PUTTY with UTF-8 enabled.
But, when the same code compiled on RHEL-4 does not display the multibyte characters correctly in the same environment.

Can anyone hint me what has changed between RHEL-3 and RHEL-4
with respect to CURSES / MULTI-BYTE HANDLING?

Thanks !

Regards,
M.R.Srinivasan
