Problem with dvd playback

I've got a problem playing some dvd's in linux, I've tried xine, mplayer and ogle. In Some DVD's not all(let's say 20% of them), when there is a quick motion in the movie, someone runs, or moves his head or his arms fast i get horizontal lines in the screen like this:

Does anybody know if there is a way to fix it. I've tried slackware and fedora, and i get the same results with some movies (the same movies), but in windows and in the dvd player i have in my living room, the movies work fine.

De-interlace!

Looks like you need to de-interlace the picture. The tearing effect occurs on monitors and need to be handled by de-interlacing software. All the programs you mentioned should have these as a plugin. Hint - if you look at the picture outputted to a TV the tearing doen't occur. Google "de-interlacing" for more info.

Regards,
