Problem using mplayer to plal RealAudio stream

I'm trying to use mplayer to play a live audio stream from a radio station. It looks like it starts up OK, but terminates almost immediately. I would appreciate any help to get this working. I forget if I installed from the mplayer homepage, synaptic, or what, but the install went without incident. Are the defalut codes insufficient? How do I get more? Details below. Thanks.

I heven't tried Helix, but I saw it on the Real site. I was concerned that it might have some ad/spy/monitoring content since it was from a commercial company. That's why I looked for a free/open-source/nonprofit type source, and I saw mplayer. If Helix sounds "safe", I'll give that a shot. Is it really ad/spy/email-spam/etc. free? Thanks.
