Problem installing Rhythmbox for Gnome

I'm trying to learn how to build and configure packages instead of using yum. What do I make of the error I got below?

I dload'd the rhythmbox package and unzipped it. I ran the ./configure in the rhythmbox directory and It looked to be checking the necessary libraries, etc it needs. At the end I got the error below

checking for RHYTHMBOX... configure: error: Package requirements ( gtk+-2.0 >= 2.12.0 glib-2.0 >= 2.15.5 gio-2.0 >= 2.15.5 gnome-media-profiles >= 2.8 libgnomeui-2.0 libglade-2.0 libsoup-2.4) were not met:

No package 'gnome-media-profiles' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables RHYTHMBOX_CFLAGS
and RHYTHMBOX_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

i would say you are missing the "?-devel " rpm's

the gtk-devel the glib-devel ,...
they have the source headers and *.pc files

install them

all of them should have been from installing the full dev tools
i am assuming that this is ?? fedora 11 ?? or cent 5.4 ???
see " yum grouplist " then " yum groupinstall "

Thanks for the response. I ran yum grouplist and it has 'development tools' listed as one of the groups installed. I am running fedora 10 however.

you might think about installing fedora 12
Fedora 10 will hit it's " End of Life " in 2 weeks

also install "Gnome development environment"
