trouble installing rhythmbox 0.8.4

When I run the configuration file, it gives the following error:

Package gstreamer-0.8 was not found in the pkg-config search path.Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gstreamer-0.8.pc'to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable

No package 'gstreamer-0.8' foundconfigure: error: GStreamer not found, or older than version 0.8.1

I have the latest version of gstreamer installed (0.8.3), and I have changed the PKG_CONFIG_PATH variable accordingly.

[root@localhost rhythmbox-0.8.4]# echo $PKG_CONFIG_PATH
/home/greg/download/gstreamer-0.8.3/pkgconfig/

I already have all of the other dependencies installed. Could anyone there help me or direct me to where I could get some helpabout this problem??
