Rule of thumb...post the last 20-30 lines of the failed configure or make when you have problems with a build.
The obvious question is, do you have the libraries installed on your system? Did you execute ldconfig as root after installing the package that provides the libraries that can't be found (LAME in the mplayer case)? Did you install the missing libraries in a non-standard path?
