Printer Problem-Canon Pixma MP170

Hi,

I am using Fedora Core 7 on a Dell Optiplex SX 280.

I have Canon Pixma MP170 printer. Fedora can recognize the printer, but when I send a page, I always get a blank paper.

What can be the problem?

Which driver is the printer using? If footamatic then I believe it is wrong based on looking up the printer here. http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/O...SDocumentation

My Printer setup does not list that model. Canon does not provide a driver either.
One possibility is Turboprint.

Thinking ahead, I think the leader in Linux support is HP. Epson is good also. Canon is close to the bottom

It is working now!!!

I installed gutenprint-cups-5.0.1-3.fc7 and on Fedora's printer configuration window selected Canon Pixma MP150. Printer is now working nicely.
I haven't tried scanner yet. I will work on that next.

Thanks for your helps.

Scanner is also working. I don't know any GUI application for scanner but scanimage command works fine and there is also a SANE backend which can be found at http://home.arcor.de/wittawat/pixma/. After installation scanner is working with pixmascan command. This is a little problematic because I couldn't scan into tiff file format.

Only problem I have so far with imagescan is I can't scan a multipage document.
