Question "PNP" Option Disabled/Configuring 2.6.3

I'm in the process of configuring a new kernel for a new pc and one or a combination of my selections "disables" the PNP options. I'm not able to even select the PNP selection line... I'm using menuconfig to configure the kernel and once I am finished, grep only shows a commented out CONFIG_IP_PNP line...

Without getting into the details of the configuration, does anyone know of a particular option that might disable "PNP" and why? I can probably remove the source tree, start again and after each selection, find out "what" disables PNP, but I'm more interested in "why"? I would like to have PNP. (This is all brand new hardware, so PNP should not be an issue.)

For what it's worth, I edited the .config file manually and added the PNP configuration comments and the kernel compiled fine, but I'm concerned with using it...

Thanks in advance!
