You've got one of two problems. Either PHP isn't installed on your system, or your Apache server isn't loading the PHP modules. First thing is to see if you've got PHP installed...type in "php -v" at the command line, as root. If it doesn't return anything, do a "locate php" or "find / -name php", and see what it returns. If you find it, put in the whole path name as "/path/to/php -v".
If you don't find it, it's (obviously), not installed. Google has several links to this, but this seems straight foward:
