playing mkv files on mplayer

Hi,

I'm new to linux and i'd like to know how to play matroska video files on mplayer. I have compiled libmatroska and libebml those i found at matroska.org, but what should i do now?

OK, so have you tried simply opening the file? Did you get errors? What were they? What have you tried?

mplayer can play matroska files....but your question is too open-ended.

Repost when you have tried playing the file, with any errors, otherwise enjoy your movie

You have to recompile mplayer if you have compiled and installed libmatroska after you have compile mplayer.
