Are you really searching for the string
mode? Because it doesn't contain any non-ASCII characters. Just convert the file from UTF-16LE to your locale encoding with
iconv/
recode/whatever. Or search it with the
strings command as binary data.
BTW, what does the .bjt extension mean? Quick search revealed only
this and
this which is in LTspice Bipolar Design Data Format (for integrated circuit design). It is categorized as a CAD/CAM/CAE format, and AFAICT non-ASCII data in it can possibly be found only in comments.
