Password error on both Evolution and Thunderbird

Hi all

I recently done an install of ubunto 14.04 and I am currently trying to set up my gmail in Evolution. Everything was ok up until it asks ne for the password for my account. When I enter it, it says its incorrect even tho I have a browser open and I can log in fine with it?

I have checked the settings in gmail and pop and imap are enabled? I have managed to set this account on the past but for some reason I cannot manage it anymore.

Thanks in advance for your help
cheers, lub0

I accidently solved this problem. I was reviewing recent activity in gmail and I noticed within the app there is a section for access for "less secure apps". I found by enabling this that I can now successfully login with Evolution. Now though I am feeling less than confident using Evolution. I hope this can be some help to someone in the future.

Probably means you are not up to date on Evolution and Thunderbird. There have been a number of vulnerabilities in most suites recently, most recently SSLv3 was found insecure.
