Pango 1.4 make errors - unresolved g_printf

OK, am upgrading from gtk2.2 to gtk2.4. Uninstalled all old pkgs. Installed glib with --prefix=/usr. Installed atk with --prefix=/usr. When installing pango, I get this error:

Writing a pango.modules file to use when running tests before installing Pango.
/home/rberquist/Downloads/source/gtk2.4/pango-1.4.0/pango/.libs/lt-pango-querymodules: relocation error: /home/rberquist/Downloads/source/gtk2.4/pango-1.4.0/pango/.libs/lt-pango-querymodules: undefined symbol: g_printf
make[2]: *** [pango.modules] Error 127

So, I uninstall everything and go back to reinstall gtk2.2. Same configs. And then I get the same error on pango again! I'm stuck with no gtk2 and am flipping out. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

undefined symbol: g_printf

While trying to install pango-1.10.1 on a Redhat Linux 9.0 platform, I encounter with the follwoing error:

Writing a pango.modules file to use when running tests before installing Pango.
/home/asen/pango/pango-1.10.1/pango/.libs/lt-pango-querymodules: relocation error: /home/asen/pango/pango-1.10.1/pango/.libs/lt-pango-querymodules: undefined symbol: g_printf
make[2]: *** [pango.modules] Error 127
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/asen/pango/pango-1.10.1/tests'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/asen/pango/pango-1.10.1'
make: *** [all] Error 2

However, glib-2.8.4 and atk-1.10.3 have been installed successfully. If anyone could provide some suggestions for me to try to fix this error it would be greatly appreciated.
