Oversize recommand mode 1280 X 1024 error

after installing CENTOS 5 onto a computer that will eventually become a proxy with dans guardian on it, i came accross an oversize recommand mode 1280X 1024 error and i have no video. if it helps the installation of centos ended with a kernal panic not syncing error. do i need to do a full re-install of centos or is there a way to fix this issue otherwise
