Open suse 10.3 2gigs of ram, and wireless

I have set up Open Suse 10.3 on my pc. I have 1 a gig of ram in it(512X2). Last night i picked up another stick or ram of 1gig. I put it in on my pc, it booted just fine, all was good, until i tried to go online with the system. Before i put in the ram, i was able to connect to my wireless access point at home and go online. After the installation, my wireless would not work, i would do iwlist scan and it would hang for line 3 seconds like it was searching but then tells me it does not find any Acess points. so i though it was the stick of ram, maybe a bad one. so i took out my my 512x2 and left the one gig in place, all was fine was able to connect and all with out a hitch. I also tested the slot, i put one 512x2 in the first slot and the other one in the slot where the 1 gig was at, it worked fine too. Anyone have a clue as to what is goin on? maybe a problem with the network manager in open suse? or maybe with ndiswrapper?
all help is appreciated.
Also im not sure if this makes a difference my new stick of ram is clocked at a lower speed. As far as i know that should not make much of a difference the memory should run at the lower speed.

Thank you in advanced.

Some specs on my machine
open suse 10.3 x86_64
AMD dual core 5800+
1gig of ram
linksys WMP54gs v1.1 running with ndiswrapper, and using broadcom 64bit drivers

Sounds strange.
AFAIK, openSUSE does not restrict memory at that level..

From my experice, if new memory causes weird behaviour, especially if it's hardware related, it maybe sensible to upgrade the BIOS. You can download the newest version from the board manufacturer's website.

I once thought I had a broken ram, and sent it back (crashing computer). The next came, with the same problem. All I needed to do it was to upgrade BIOS.

Deng, then I guess i will have to wait for a bit longer, its a newer board that i got, and last time i checked there is no BIOS update (wich was like 2 weeks ago?). Ill look again to see is there is an update once i get home. Thank you for your reply.

I'd be thinking the memory mismatch is the culprit. Don't know why just some components would be affected though.
With 2 sticks in, that bank might be dual-channel - I think adding a single stick in the other bank will make it all single channel. Wouldn't have thought that would be be an issue.

Linux has shown intolerance to mismatched memory in the past.
Hopefully some-one with some hardware nous will pass by and offer some insight.

Hmmm, that could be it. If im not mistaken the new memory it does not mention anything on it about being dual channel(generic brand) as opposed to my 512x2 they do say dual channel. I will check that when i get home as well. Now, i wonder if there is a bios settings to change that to make it all work on single channel. I will check that, as well(man i have alot of checking to do :-p) I will post my findings then. Thank you all for your replies, if you have more, keep em coming

Reporting back

So yeah, i got a chance to check out a few things last night. First off i upgraded my BIOS, no change. Changed a few settings as well, one being the speed at wich the memory runs at, same result, i saw no settings to make it single channel. I think it is gonna be what syg00 said. If thats the case i will have to wait till i get some more money to buy the other stick of ram. Again, if anyone has any more ideas i am open to them. Thank you again in advance.
