Nvidia Driver ..now internet is slow

First.......achkkkkkk!!! sorry..need to get that out of the way....

This has been going on for days. I installed the nvidia driver and every app works.. Blender loves it. I have a PNY Geforce 6200 8x 128mb. When i glxgears, I get: 3200 fps.

Now my internet is slow to connect or wont connect at all. Im on wireless and use ndiswrappers.

I dont have the "dri" selected in my xorg.conf and I did replace "nv" with "nvidia".

I made sure I had alias char-major-195 NVdrivers in /etc/modules.conf. I checked my irqs and my video is 5 and my wifi is 11.

I tried to modprobe ndiswrappers and thats fine., but then I dhcpcd wlan0 it stalls. I checked iwconfig and my wlan0 is up.

I can no longer use my brain......I have googled this to death...

Please.....Please....help me.!!!!!

All comments and suggestions are welcome! Thank you

Slackware 10.1 2.4.29
Geforce 6200 128mb
512 memory
2.8 Celeron..dont laugh.

Have you tried using the old nv driver to just to check to see if the nvidia drivers are actually causing the problem (cause I have the dhcpcd problem sometimes just because my wifi network is evil)? It sounds like the nvidia drivers are breaking the ndiswrapper drivers. What wireless card do you use?

OK..heres the scoop...

I tried the these drivers....

NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1.run
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7174-pkg1.run

6111 stalls on the NVIDIA spash screen....

How do you test different drivers?

You need to be sure old ones are removed from memory before using a new one..
Do lsmod to list loaded modules.. rmmod to remove one..

Also do lspci and lspci -n and post the cards's pci-id number.
Need to be sure the absolutely correct module is chosen..

"but then I dhcpcd wlan0 it stalls. I checked iwconfig and my wlan0 is up."
dhcpcd is still running.. but with no ip numbers.
do ps ax | grep dhcpcd to get it's PID number and then kill it with kill -TERM pid

Hi,

some reasons why wireless can be slow :
1/ you use both 802.11g and 802.11b at the same time (a computer uses b, another g)... most access points (AP) don't support this very well, so it works, but with poor rates.
2/ you've put your AP behind a concrete wall, did you ?
3/ you use bluetooth at the same time and have a poorly configured AP (both tehcno share the same bandwith, but usually, problems arise when you have many AP)
4/ your AP is perturbed by another device (your neighboor's AP, or a microwave, or DECT or something else...)

of course, don't forget a module misconfiguration, or a network misconfig.

thank you very much for responding...

First, how can i can I tell if i have both 802.11g and 802.11b at the same time. My wirless card is 802.11g.

Second Im new to networking and I dont know where my AP is. All I know is that I have a wireless router.

I dont use Bluetooth.

How could my graphic card be disrupting my wireless card?

I looked at my xorg and have found exactly what the directions say. What kind of modules misconfiguration am I looking for.

Thanks again....

Okay, if both your router and card are "g" than you should be okay. Your AP (Access Point) is your router. What kind of walls are between your computer and your router? Your graphics card's drivers (which are software) can interfere with some of your other drivers. Check the broadcom drivers and nvidia drivers for incompatabilities. Also, always use the latest driver versions if at all possible (ie if the new ones work for your display, use them).
