I've messed with Linux in a server setting for FTP, HTML, and gaming servers but I haven't made the switch on my gaming PC until now. That said, I'm having problems getting my mic to work. I'm using the CA0106 card for audio, and with the same hardware configuration it works flawlessly in Windows.
I've toyed with settings to no avail, and tested with Skype and KRec.
Code:
$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [CA0106 ]: CA0106 - CA0106
Live! 7.1 24bit [SB0410] at 0xaf00 irq 21
1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xfe024000 irq 17
Code:
$ cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.14 (Thu May 31 09:03:25 2007 UTC).
Since I don't recall the command to output my settings in text format, I've included a SS of my alsamixer settings
here. The only non-viewed setting here is Shared Mic/Line In which is currently set to Line In.
Since the image is small and difficult to view, my settings are listed here.
Code:
Card: CA0106
Chip:
View: [All]
Line in: 100
Mic: 100
Phone: 100
IEC958: Unmuted (I found this actually controls muting for Analog too.)
IEC958 C: 0
IEC958 F: 0
IEC958 R: 0
IEC958 U: 0
Aux: 100
Analog C: 71
Analog F: 71
Analog R: 71
Analog S: 71
Analog S: Line in
CAPTURE: 100
Digital: SRC out
Shared Mic/Line in: Line in
I have attempted to adjust all of these settings. The "IEC*" are for digital output, and I'm using Analog so that's why those are 0. If they are not muted, sound cuts out because my card does not support both analog and digital output simultaneously. Also, The only setting that makes a difference in my audio playback is "Analog F", the rest can be set to 0 and I can hear properly.
I tried to cover all information required to bug this problem, if I've forgotten anything please just throw it out and I'll get you the info.
