Need help installing php-gd on Linux

I have a server with Linux Fedora 9 and I'm trying to install php-gd. I ran "yum install php-gd" and it gave me this error:
Error: Missing Dependency: php-common = 5.2.5-7.fc9 is needed by package php-gd-5.2.5-7.fc9.i386 (fedora)

So I tried to install php-common by running "yum install php-common" and got this:
Package matching php-common-5.2.5-7.fc9.i386 already installed. Checking for update.
Nothing to do

Where do I go from here?

Thanks.

Welcome to LQ.

Well .. can happen for every 1000? packages,
Fedora , Redhat etc.
'rpm' // yum is only 99.9x % reliable.

When you know, that everything really is OK,
you can just do : # rpm -Uvh --nodeps php-gd-5.2.5-7.fc9.i386.rpm

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...7.fc9.i386.rpm
> > php-gd-5.2.5-7.fc9.i386.rpm
.....

Incidentally, F9 is no longer being updated. Fedora is on v12 atm...

for the OUTDATED fedora 9 yum no longer works seeing as the repos have been MOVED into the historical archives

if you want to keep using a INSECURE and OUTDATED and UNSUPPORTED version of fedora you WILL NEED TO BUILD ALL NEW CODE FROM THE SOURCE !!!

also see :
" Guides & Solutions (No Questions) "
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=12

"Repository configuration for older Fedora releases. "
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=221471

PS. not all new code will build on fedora 9 with out REBUILDING half of the operating system from source ( basically building fedora 12 from source)

# 4 : MOVED into the historical archives : not correct.
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...nux/updates/9/

No new updates since July, but the usual repos still work,
may change tomorrow ?
