nagios error (check_nrpe)

Hi,

I'm now setting opsview but the error shows as below.
*These show when opsview monitors himself.

[nagios@hostname1~]$ /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -n -H x.x.x.x
CHECK_NRPE: Error receiving data from daemon.
[nagios@hostname1 ~]$ /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H x.x.x.x
CHECK_NRPE: Error - Could not complete SSL handshake.

And also when i checked /var/log/messages, there is the error that "Host x.x.x.x is not allowed to talk to us!" .

The IP address of opsviserver (x.x.x.x) is added to "allowed_hosts" but still shows these errors.

Would you please help me to solve this?

Thanks.

That seems...rude.

Do both machines have each other in "hosts_allowed"?
Are they part of the same domain?

I think if you can figure out why that is happening, you'll probably have your answer.

Yeah... this issue occurs when opsview monitors opsview (itself).

I added the ip address of Opsview machine to host_allowed and also the same domain.

I did numerous things but can't fix.....

hi

I experienced the problem that my machines which I wanted to monitor use a local firewall.
Check if you have one running of them.
try: iptables -S if you see about 3 lines in result, you are sure that there is nofirewall running.

In case, and in case you want to keep the firewall, open port 5666.

SSL handshaking does not work properly if both machines can not see each other, maybe the default gw on one of the machines differs.

allowed host is only needed to be set at the "to be monitored" system. There the monitoring system its ip has to be defined.

Try to execute from the monitoring machine the check script on local console. /usr/lib/nagios/plugins
there you will find ./check_nrpe -H xxxx and verify the output.

regards
