[SOLVED] NAGIOS problem: CHECK_NRPE: Error

First let me point out, this is not a misconfiguration of the nrpe.cfg file as every other forum post on this error leads to. My situation is a bit different.

I have been monitoring a CentOS server in AWS for a few months using NRPE with SSL. I then shut that server down and installed a new CentOS server at the same IP address then compiled/installed NRPE again.

Nagios was monitoring the services perfectly for about an hour and then started failing with this error:

CHECK_NRPE: Error - Could not complete SSL handshake.

I shut down the CentOS server, built it again and the same thing happened. About an hour of good monitoring followed by a sudden change to that error again.

Any idea what is causing this?

Solved the problem.

I fixed this config file, restarted xinetd and everything is working again.
