Question Multiple copies of PDF print job

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I have 2 Kubuntu boxes. Box one has an HP1018 printer attached to it. The printer works well --- and there are no problems when printing from box one. Box two uses the box one printer. It works fine - except when printing multiple copies of PDF files. If "print 3 copies" is selected, 9 are printed. 4 = 16. And so on. 1 = 1. This happens with kpdf, kghostview and acroread. It is very annoying for the user. Obviously I compiled the driver for the printer in the same way on both boxes. I am stuck.
edit : just to add, I am using the latest Ubuntu version of Cups.

I have a quite similar problem, only the number of copies being printed is somehow unpredictable. Sometimes requesting 1 copy results in 5 or even more being printed...

cups-1.1.23-r8
acroread-7.0.8
gentoo-2.6.12-r9

Any hints are very much appreciated.

Regards,

til.
