Thanks,I've been using google to search such problem, throw your help, I could know it's the codecd, Win32 codecs,my mplayer cannot find the codecs,I will try again.
Totem seems to support less codecs than before, I can not play *.rmvb or even .mp3,and cann't search any plugin.
how can I update or install the plugins? with yum install totem? seems just the main totem player,
I used to use totem to play all the video file in my computer.
Why mess with totem? Just use realplayer to play your rmvb files?
cheers,
jdk
why bother with proprietary BS software, just use mplayer and make sure you have all the codecs installed: http://www3.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/
the "all" pack has all codecs you will ever need.

From http://www3.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/ I download all the codecs, and solve the mplayer's problem, and it works quite well.
From the https://player.helixcommunity.org/ I'm trying to install helix PLayer!
I have installed realplayer,it's easier, but totem and mplayer can play more video files and I am installing codecs for totem,it will function well. I am learning linux,THANKS.
more that likely fedora's SELinux is throwing a error for rmvb,rm files .the mplayer codeds for them need to wright some data to file . Check your SELinus troubleshooter for the error AND THE FIX .In the error massage is the fix.
