move window up in gnome/metacity?

I am using 800x600 mode in this PC. Sometimes the dialog window is too big and I cannot press the "ok" "cancel" button. In xfce4, I can drag the window up pressing alt key. In metacity, when the window touch the upper screen, it would not move up anymore. What can I do?

keep the alt-key pressed and move the window by clicking somewhere inside.

you may also set another value for dpi by starting the Xserver with the option -dpi 72 (usually 100). see your current config in /var/log/XFree.0.log

That is what I wanted to do. However, the windows doesn't move up more when the upper side touch the edge.

I cannot set the dpi lower as it has a negative effect on fonts and it would hurt the eyes. Thanks anyway.

add a line
Virtual "1024" "768"
under your Modes "800x600" line in your /etc/X11/XF86config(-4) file's "SubSection Display" and you schould get a bigger screen you can scroll around in. i'm not sure about the "Virtual" option, maybe adding "1024x768" at the end of Modes-line will give the propper result.
