modem eth0 not present after reinstalling grub

Hello everyone

After I reinstalled grub using linux rescue disk, chroot /mnt/sysimage and /sbin/grub-install dev/hda, i got my dual boot menu back, but it says eth0 modem not present whenever I try to active eth0 in network configuration. The eth0(modem) works if I use my partition magic boot- disk to boot to linux, but is not present when I choose to boot from dual boot menu?

Thank you

Maybe you are missing a kernel parameter that was setup in your old /boot/grub.conf? You might need one to get your ethernet card / lan card working... Which is why it isn't working now, because you have (obviously) overwritten your old grub.conf by re-installing grub...
