Mixer Settings

Hi!
I want to know how I can make my mixer 'remember' its settings so I won't have to set then by hand every time I start up the system. The main reason I is because I'm getting tired of having to open gmix, and then switch the 'record' functions over to the microphone from the line-in.

I don't use gnome/kde, so telling their mixers to remember the settings won't help, since they don't start up automatically.

I'm looking for something that I could maybe put in rc.local or something.

Thanks a lot!!
