Mixer settings?

Is there a way to load your mixer settings without running KDE (kmix) or Gnome (gmix)? I'm tweaking on Blackbox and trying to run a wav file in .xinitrc.

Find aumix. You can either download/install from www.freshmeat.net, or it might be available on your Slack install CD.

Cool

Thanks, rexima did the trick. You get some really strange looks when Blackbox loads with the XP startup wav.

This is the Slackware forum so I am not sure if this will apply to a Redhat system. But I am guessing that Redhat is based using Alsa sound control. Alsa provides a program to save and restore the mixer settings.

alsactl save
alsactl restore

Run the first command to save the settings to start with or whenever you want to update the startup config. Then add the second command somewhere in your startup scripts. But don't ask me where because it is a sysv distro and I couldn't even figure out how they init a NIC card.
