Mint 17.2 lost wfi drivers

I have a Hp Dc77 tower that I have Mint 17.2 I been using the wifi wireless for some time ,but now its not recognizing any wifi hardware . I tried to go into driver manager ,but it was blank. If I use a live DVD I will get a wireless connection. I also tried to add some drivers from software manager but to no help. Im thinking when I did an update it somehow disabled the wireless driver. Any and all help will be appreciated.

Hi:

I'm not good with fixing the wifi stuff sorry. Getting information about your system will be one of the first things our members here will need from you in order to help.

When you have time please post the output of this command.

Code:
inxi -Fxz
To check on the status of your wifi you would use this command.
Code:
iwconfig

If it's still not working, please let us know what wireless chipset is in that machine. The lspci command should provide that information.

I must say, that it used to work and stopped and that it still works with a Live CD tends to indicate that something has gone awry with the installed OS.

Here's your wireless network card:
Code:
Card-2: Qualcomm Atheros AR9287 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) driver: ath9k
From the looks of it, it uses the ath9k driver that the kernel should be using.

Does a Live Linux CD allow you to go online?

When on a Mint Laptop. I find the

Code:

command useful for me to troubleshoot wifi problems in Mint Linux.

Than like frankbell said something has gone awry with your installed os.

Have you considered a fresh installation of Linux Mint 19?
