Midi? What Midi?

Any of you famililar with Linux regarding how to get sound from the Midi files? What has to be done? What might I be missing?

Indications suggest it's working but NO sound. No music.

On this end I'm usind a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop and Suse v10.0 OS.

yes you need to use a software synthesizer like above timidity or fluidsynth and some soundfonts like freepats ewpats or a gm .sf2 soundbank.
let us know exacty what you are trying and we can help further with specific commands and junk.
both timidity and fluidsynth can be run as a midi port server for other applications to use.
