messenger packages


Hello any chance of some recommendations on what messenger packages every 1 is using I've not had a lot of luck with too many of the packages ive tried working correctly lately , or is it mandriva (should i change distros). reconmendations desktop.

I'm not sure I understand what a "messenger package" is, but if you mean IM client, then pidgin is a good bet.

you are not clear about your problem.

messenger ..?? what did mean ? chat application ?

-> kopete and pidgin are two linux applications, which we can use for different chat accounts
like gtalk,IRC,ICQ,AIM,MSN ..etc

-> yahoo messenger ?? gyachi is linux chat application , provides all yahoo messenger facilities.


packages ...?? which packages ..? probably you are looking for , voice chat and video chat packages ??

gyachi provides video and voice chat. you can also use kopete for that. but kopete needs some extra plugin packages for that. they are libjasper ....

sorry for my poor wording of the question Im after a Im client that will handle chatrooms and webcams like gyachi, but I have not been able to get gyachi to work with mandriva 2009.1 i currently use kopete have tried pidgin but no webcam any other options?

Sorry I don't know what gyachi is, and anything that involves a camera is not really just IM. I think gnome makes something called empathy that is supposed to be and all in one IM and video conf client.
