here here,
im primarily a desktop user ive been caught up in the whole linux thing for some time know.
i started with redhat 8.0 and at the time I couldnt get around the lack of multimedia support. I tried suse 8.1 and loved it, i became rather attatched to its Yast module but my computing experience usaully last up until the point where Yast would update my kernel leaving xconfig file wrong. Everyone was talking about mandrake so i ordered the prosuite online. Its cool, rpmdrake is nice once you visit the uselinuxathome.com site(if you are new to linux like me) although after updating kde 3.1 to the tex version you'll find that your cdrom icons will no longer appear on the desktop. the devices are still available via links or simply "Alt+F2 [/mnt/cdrom]". long story short, if your looking to switch from win to linux and are moderately experience desktop user, and you got your self a copy of a mand9.1 then you dont need much else. on thing i cant figure out is xwine, its very different that the wine that i used on suse 8.1, by the way i also tried suse 8.2 and didnt like it at all. it was the retail version. its use of keramic made it look worst than 8.1.
so: Alkad Mzu The Nutronium Alchemist
gives: mandrake 9.1 : 9
suse 8.2 : 4
suse 8.1 : 8
redhat 8.0 : 4
