Lost most of my KDE

Go fogure but Arts doesnt work but Quake 3 sound and other game sounds do work in KDE. Meanwhile I also lost most of my program links and config links in the KDE start menu. I can run Konqueror, mozill, and others from the command prompt but I have no listing in my "start menu". Also I cannot get the properties to display for my Kpanel when I right click on it. This may all be tied in somehow.
How can I get my Kpanel fully functional again without the hassel of reformatting?
