Looking for Digital Signage Software

Hi Guys
Now ive been googl'ing for hours now.
Im searching for some Digital Signage software, for sending pictures and stuff to alot of screens.
Scheduling what content and so on...

Has to be able to run just on a LAN (Server/Player), or just be in 1 single "unit".

Anybody know some good free software that might help?
Or can recomend somthing?

If I were looking to do this with the zero knowledge I have, I'd just look at a full screen web browser and a little PHP on a web server, what wouldn't that give you?

maybe do some simple funky stuff with jQuery.. http://www.onextrapixel.com/2010/02/...e-transitions/ that seems to hint at a few things as does this http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle/

Yes. I am very familiar with various digital signage software and hardware systems.

Please share advice here in public, otherwise this is just looking like spam. If it's not spam, what GPL software would you recommend for signage?
