Talking Linux Can Go To Heaven, It finally Works How Is That Mossy?

Why? because Red hat is the second version of this software that is given me nothing much trouble. Just when I thought things were going well with installation shits starts. Everytime I went to install the second of the 3 installation cds It keeps telling me That is not the correct cd Please install cd 2.

What the heck is wrong first Mandrake gives me nothing but trouble now I go and spend the $39 dollars for the Red hat and end up with crap I might as well spend the $400 and run Windows server 2000.

take it easy, there may be some flaw on the cd's. get them replaced.
you can take the last chance--try SuSE 8.2. you can get it for very low price at ebay.com

Ya but this as been nothing but agravation since the begining. Red Hat seemed to have a better set up as far as choosing what to install, but I hate it because 2 products in one wk????? enough to make anyone mad as heck. Does tec have a number all I found was a web support.

You got errors with both mandrake and redhat??and you think that this was due to the some problem in linux??and you think you will never get such a problem with windows??RedHat is offering really good support.(that is what for you have paid them, otherwise you could have gone for a free download from their website.)

note:linux is not for spoon-fed babies

I would rather have the cd's that is why I bought them. Sorry but in all the yrs I have had windows I never ran into a problem loading the OS that was not easily fixed on the spot, just good luck there. I e-mailed support and hope for a answere in a reasonable amount time.

Spoon feed babies you must be talking about someone closer to your self. When you buy something they should offer at least a 800 number for support instead of waiting to here from a e-mail reply which they probably won't respond until monday the earliest.

And two different versions of Linux in the same wk seems like a trend here. Mandrake gave me the same headache after 3 attempts and I bought one from e-bay.

you know,i am sure 100s of people must have bought RH and Mandrake cds.(same version) and you think you (and only you) got a similar trouble??
--------------
Dont blame it on linux. This is happening before linux was even loaded. It can certainly happen on windows.(i have experianced similar problems sometimes in Windows.)
--------------
i used 'spoon-fed' just to compare the 'windows-only_scare-of linux' users.they seem to have the idea that the only troubleshooting way is reinstalling.and they think that a computer is a new age replacement of tv.

ofcource they offer telephonic support.that is why i posted the link http://www.redhat.com/support/sla/.
If you still cant get it,http://www.redhat.com/support/techsu...GSS_hours.html is the one for you.
i have never bought a linux distro.i have never used a distro-support-phoneline.but i know there is a search engine called google.com.and i know how to chase a link that someone has specified just to help you.may be spoon-fed babies find it tough to do the same.;-)they find it easier to blame it on linux.and got to a lug/forum and post something like "Linux Go To Hell"

Thanks col Panic and no I know I'm not the only one who has ever had this problem. It just seems odd to have it happen with two different version in the same wk. I'm not affraid of trying Linux or I wouldn't have bought any. I plan on doing whatever it takes to get this to work correctly. I have the time and the patience to let the support people help. I decided to go this way because of all that is has to offer compared to windows and it was reccomended by people I know who own Linux. I also hate the activation bull that you go through when you by Microsoft products now. Maybe I was a little to harsh in the begining, than maybe not LOL.

Well, I bought Red Hat 9, it installed fine. I even got my printer and scanner working, which I never could under SuSe. And I managed to download Spiralsynth, install it, and it works!
Red Hat forever, I am now independent of Windows! And I am useless at computers!

Your absolute class doubledragon5, you decided to use linux cuz your friends say it's good. lol. You'd throw yourself off a cliff too huh if they said it was fun. Now don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with trying, but your talking of "switching" to linux. Have you ever stopped to wonder why?? or what nice little feature's would suite YOU???

I love linux , but not for a desktop. It's currently useless for gaming, not totally, but not worth the faffing around it takes to load up your fave game and have a quick blast. Server side, it rocks so hard it's ozzy osbourne on acid. Solid and stable, my server's been up for 7 months now without one single glitch.

I think this is why a lot of noobs rant like this, you need to know what you want from linux, and know why you want it. It's not a new toy, and it's not the latest fad, it's an advanced OS for people who are tired of the limitations of windows. You do however need to know if you're hitting the limitations. Most people don't.
