Laggy sound

The sound is lagging about half a second in the game GL-117. I tried setting
SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa
export SDL_AUDIODRIVER
in .bash_profile, restarting and hitting "set" in konsole, but that didn't help. Can anyone help me? The sound is important in the game to warn me of incoming missiles and similar things...

I had lagged sound in Fedora by using alsa with arts. Are you sure that you aren't running arts unknowingly?

Run ps -e | grep arts and see if it is running. Then you can kill it (or remove it altogether), reset your kde/game to use pure alsa, and hear sound with no lags. The downside is that only one program has the sound card at a time.
