Ktorrent questions
I am using Ktorrent to download files and I have them downloaded to my desktop. After they are downloaded I then move them to a directory on my server. Once I move them Ktorrent 'loses' them and they are no longer available for uploading. As I want to give back, is there a setting that I can change to have Ktorrent look elsewhere (on the server) and not in the original place that I have set to place the downloaded files?
I'm pretty new to this torrent thing so I am sorry if I am missing something obvious.
You should either set the final location as a download target when you load the torrent file into KTorrent (on top of the dialog box you can set the download location), or you do reload the torrent file again, give it's current location as a download target (in that case it should find all files, verify them, marking the whole thing 100% downloaded and as such starting to upload).
It should also be possible to create a softlink from your older download location to the current place where the files are stored.
Either way, do a test with some small download project to find out the proper way, and let us all know what the solution was.

I cannot use the final location as the download target as I need to create new folders and do some arranging after I place the new file in the final directory. Certain files would go into certain subfolders that I need to create for the files. That is why I 'prestage' them, after they are done downloaded I arrange them in specific subfolders in the new directory.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'reload the torrent file again'. I would be more then happy to have the whole directory (and subfolders) available for upload and not just the torrents that I moved into it. I'm sorry that I do not have a grasp of the mechanics behind how this works.

I understand where the config setting are I am just not sure how to get them to upload files from a different directory from where I downloaded them.

Let's say that I have moved them them all to one directory, /moved_files, but I put them in many different subdirectories such as /moved_files/subdir1, /moved_files/subdir2, /moved_files/subdir3, etc. Can I just softlink to /moved_files? I don't mind sharing everything in /moved_files. Some of them are files that I downloaded as torrents and others are not, but as I said, I don't mind sharing all of them. Is this possible?
