Kpackage won't install packages

I have used kpackage fine before, with it letting me install packages and upgrade packages, but after a new knoppix install, kpackage won't work. All I get whenever I want to install a new package or upgrade or even delete one, I get:
Quote:
exec failed: No such file or directory
. This is getting really annoying. Does anyone know what is wrong?

kpackage: exec failed - no such file
